As female Christian authors, many of us start our writing journeys declaring—like David—that we want to be servants after God’s own heart. We long to dedicate our creative businesses to the Lord, praying bold prayers of surrender. But over time, the weight of trials, setbacks, and unmet expectations can distract us from the very passion that once fueled our purpose.
This is why the ministry of the Holy Spirit is so precious. Because when our flesh says, “Give up,” the Spirit says, “Press in.” The Spirit draws us into Scripture, reminds us of God’s truth, and translates our deepest cries into intercession. If you’re a Christian woman writer experiencing unexpected shifts in your creative journey, know this: you are not alone.
In this post, we’ll unpack three powerful and purposeful prayers that position your heart and your business for eternal Kingdom impact. These aren’t surface-level petitions. They’re soul-deep, Spirit-led invitations to allow God to refine your motives, anchor your vision, and deepen your calling as a storyteller for His glory.
When we pray, “Lord, use me for Your glory,” and we genuinely mean it—God listens. And He moves. But what often follows that prayer is not instant success or visibility. It’s a season of pruning, preparation, and purification. God desires to use clean, ready, and willing vessels for His glory. And that readiness often begins with surrender.
I know this personally. After being saved in 2005, I still carried chains of religion, people-pleasing, and striving to succeed on my own terms. In 2018, God miraculously redeemed and resurrected my life—but that new beginning didn’t start on a mountaintop. It began in the valley, where my foundation was completely dismantled so God could rebuild me properly.
He gave me a beautiful illustration: a tender young plant, newly transplanted. If it bore fruit too early, the weight would crush it. It needed time to grow strong roots first.
So often, we want to jump straight into the harvest season. But friend, God is more interested in your inner growth than your outer accolades. He knows what needs to be removed, healed, or restructured before He pours out His glory through your writing.
This kind of refining fire isn’t meant to shame you—it’s meant to set you free. God is not just preparing your business; He’s preparing you. So if you’re in a season of delay, trust that He’s strengthening your spiritual roots so your creative work can stand tall in due time.
One of my favorite figures in the Bible is Moses. Not just because of his leadership, but because of his heart posture. In Exodus 33, after the people of Israel rebel by building a golden calf, God tells Moses He will still fulfill His promise and lead them to the Promised Land—but He will not go with them.
And what does Moses say in response?
Moses valued God’s presence over the promise. And that one statement continues to challenge me in my own creative walk.
As writers building faith-based businesses, it’s easy to get caught up in deadlines, launch strategies, and platform growth. But the truth is—there is a difference between writing for God and writing with God.
When we ask God to consume us with His love, we’re inviting His presence into every part of our journey. Not just our devotion time or Sunday mornings—but our emails, manuscripts, marketing efforts, and every in-between moment.
True love fuels true surrender. And when your love for God surpasses everything else, you’ll begin to prioritize His leading over your own logic. The pressure to hustle falls away. Peace enters the process. And your creativity becomes a sacred act of worship.
This third prayer is perhaps the most challenging—and the most transformative. As Christian writers, our stories aren’t just entertainment. They’re vessels of healing, hope, and revelation for the readers God entrusts to us.
When we ask God to help us see people the way Christ does, we’re surrendering the judgment, comparison, and apathy that so easily creeps in. We’re asking to be filled with compassion and to develop Kingdom eyes for those around us.
When our focus shifts from performance to people, our writing takes on new meaning. Every chapter, blog post, or devotional becomes a seed of love. Your words are not just filling pages—they’re planting eternal truths.
You may never know the names or stories of everyone who reads your words, but rest assured—God does. And He wants to use your creativity to speak life into the dark places they’re walking through.
To position your heart and business for Kingdom impact, here are the three prayers we covered:
These aren’t just poetic prayers—they are powerful blueprints for transformation. And when you pray them sincerely, the Holy Spirit will guide you deeper into freedom, purpose, and creative intimacy with God.
You’re not just a writer. You are a vessel of hope, healing, and truth. You are co-writing with the Creator of the universe. And He sees your heart—even in the quiet, unseen moments of surrender.
