New school year has started. No more endless hours of fun. Getting all choked up here.
Fare thee well, summer. I shall miss thee. *sniffle*
Okay, I’ll chill with the dramatics, but seriously, back to school time for kids doesn’t have the same ring to it for us as in most households. Whereas they cart their young’uns off to school, I lounge around in PJs and toss paper balls around the office with mine. There are many perks to homeschooling.
Although the start of a new school year does mean tighter schedules, early morning work shifts, and doubling up on the coffee—lots and lots of caffeine—to tackle the ever multiplying to-do list.
While I didn’t spend my summer sprawled out on a hammock reading books and sipping iced tea all day (although that would’ve been epic!), I did knock out several of my business goal items.
One being a new office!
When we first moved into the home we live in now, our spare bedroom held the guest room title. However, in the past 4 years, that role was needed a total of 3 times. Yeah we’re major socialites, ya know. 😉
So instead of being the guest room that area soon became the junk zone. Wasting space, right?
Yikes. Oh, the shame (Don’t judge!).
After a few “work days” of gutting out that bad mojo, hauling two trips of stuff to Goodwill, and one-clicking a shiny new desk, we now have an open and more productive use of space.
I will not show a picture of my bookshelf just yet. That poor baby still needs some major decluttering attention. *pats shelf* Don’t worry, love. We’ll get you cleaned up soon.
While I do share this new office space with my daughter’s homeschooling, it’s not as cumbersome as one might think. It’s actually fun. She’s more eager to start school now that she has her area next to mommy’s. 🙂
A few other goals I hit was soaking in more family time, knocking out writing on my new sci-fi trilogy, and traveling to signings and conferences. As well as, layout the foundation for a few business related things I’ll be rolling out this fall.
Overall we had an amazing summer. And I’m looking forward to what the rest of the year has to bring. Just because we’re rolling into a new season of life doesn’t mean the fun stops. We simply transition to a different style of it. 😉
