Take a look around at the world today. What do you see? Violence? Hate? Betrayal? Self-destruction? It doesn’t take long to note how damaged and broken our world is. That darkness grows and spreads in a festering disease threatening to destroy goodness.
But does it have to be that way?
The easy answer is no, it doesn’t have to be that way.
The hard answer? It’s one ferocious battle.
Strike the match
If you happened to catch my video series on Illusionary, then you saw my confession regarding my battles with depression. If you missed it, then I’ll confess now. Depression sucks, and most days I’m staring at the ceiling willing my inner self to remember the purpose I have in life. To strike the match and cling to the flicker of light in my soul.
Can you relate? If so, you know how fierce a battle one faces when they refuse to let the negativity all around seep in.
Spark the flame
The decision to fight is a choice no one can make for us. When war is waged it isn’t easy. Soldiers in battle are wounded. Fatigue can set in. Then we question our purpose and rethink our call to duty. Pretty soon we forget about the weapons we have at our disposal.
How’s a soldier to keep the fire in his/her soul burning?
Our hearts need fuel to keep the blaze flaming, to keep the fire of positivity burning. But do we know what the fuel is? Or even have access to the right kind?
Burn the Sludge
To aid in the fight against negativity, I’ve declared July as the Month of Power, in which I’ll share thoughts and encouragement on how to wield the weapons and talents we’ve been given to wage war.
I know the struggles that occur when battling depression. I also know the fatigue that sets in when we’re battle worn. But we do not have to stay down when we stumble and fall.
Next week, we’ll chat about the first weapon at our disposal—Truth—and how we can wield it against the lies whispered from within.
Looking forward to chatting with you. See you then.
